Keeping up with your dogs dental hygiene can be a struggle and is usually the last thing on everybody's mind. However, it is SUPER important to keep up with your dogs dental health so that your dog can live a long, happy, and healthy life! This is just a little bit about what I was struggling with and the solutions I found that ACTUALLY WORK!!!
I have a dog who was constantly developing plaque on his teeth! I was constantly having to scrape them just to keep them in half-way decent shape. Like most people, I was not the most consistent on keeping up with his teeth brushing. His teeth were getting so bad that I felt like he was needing to have a doggy-dental (and would have needed one every 2-3 months if I had not religiously scraped them)! I started looking for an answer to my problem and discovered PlaqueOff Powder! It is a supplement you just add to your dogs food! Easy enough, I thought! I was not quite sure how a powdered supplement was going to help my dogs teeth, but I was getting pretty desperate!
Let me tell you....I wish I would have known about this YEARS ago! His teeth have never been better! I haven't scraped them in over a month, which was previously at least a once a week thing. I liked it so much that I have ordered more for all of my dogs!
In addition to this new supplement, I have been trying to be better about brushing everybody's teeth (at least 2-3 times a week). And yes, I made sure that this product was working prior to increasing the amount of times I was brushing his teeth!
I just wanted to share the products I have been using because I feel like they are truly helping my dogs!
https://www.chewy.com/proden-plaqueoff-powder-dog-cat/dp/132175 This is the PlaqueOff Powder. It is 22.00 (On sale for 14.70!) on Chewy.com
This is the toothpaste I have been using https://www.chewy.com/tropiclean-fresh-breath-advanced/dp/113344 It is Tropiclean Advanced Whitening Gel, 16.99 (On sale for 10.17!). It says no brushing required, but we still brush with it!
Also, if you are looking for an all-natural option, I have also used a mixture of coconut oil (solid), peppermint oil, and baking soda, as toothpaste. You just mix it together until you have a paste. This is NOT an exact recipe, but 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/4 teaspoon peppermint oil, 1tsp of baking soda. If it is too thick, you can add some more peppermint oil and baking soda until you get the consistency you like!
Another great all natural option is baking soda and cinnamon powder! 1TBSP of Baking Powder and 1tsp of cinnamon! Just wet the toothbrush with some water and then dip the brush into the powder mixture!
